Short-term Assignments Survey

Overview

  Report available   Date: 25 Apr 2023 - 19 May 2023   Published: July 2023

No longer simply an "alternative" assignment type, short-term international assignments are evolving to become an essential means of moving talent for a wide range of purposes. Typically lasting between 30 days and 12 months, short-term assignments can be defined as being longer than business trips but shorter than traditional long-term assignments.

This survey looks at how leading global organisations use these assignments to deliver diverse objectives and manage, pay and track their short-term assignees.

Participants receive a free report of the results, enabling them to compare and align their approach with best practice in the industry.

The survey covers the following areas of short-term assignment management:

  • Calculation and delivery of salary and allowances
  • Managing the cost of subsistence items, including per diems and/or COLA
  • Housing and other benefits provision
  • Tracking and compliance
  • How policies are adapted to support different objectives and mobility patterns
  • What happens when assignments end, or are extended
  • Latest trends and common challenges

We're delighted that our Short-term Assignments Survey received Highly Commended in the 'Thought Leadership – Best Survey or Research Study of the Year' category at the 2019 EMEA EMMAs

Who is it open to?

Anyone working in global mobility or elsewhere who has responsibility for the management or administration of short-term international assignments.
